Around 2:00 am this morning (29th) we could hear some arguing down the road.  Chap and his girl friend.  Of course in a few minutes I hear the wind up of angry tires on a Commodore and the thrashing of a car slowly losing control.  Well at 2:10 there is the thump of the car running into the light pole in the street.  Luckily the pole was there, as the car would have most likely ended up in the house of a retired couple, if it wasn't.  Well we have been without power for around 4 hours as a result.  This is o.k., as neither Carmel or myself got a lot of sleep due to the early morning accident, so no power meant ...nap time.

Power is back on, and I cannot help but wonder about the chap who ran into the pole.  He now will most likely have to pay for the pole as well as fix or replace his car.  Hopefully replace with something more sensible.  I would say the Police will also issue some fines along with it.  5 Line techs, 2 traffic control chaps, 3 trucks ... all on a Saturday.  Hmm.. might be quite a few banana skins for this young angry dude.

I must say though, the police where here fearly fast after I rang, but I know I was not the only one who rang, and the scene was cleared fairly quickly, by 5 am they had the pole supported and life had returned to some normality ...
